LOVE ..
Tonight’s topic is love. As hard as it is to sum up what is debatably the strongest human emotion, I’m going to try. Lets start out with the definition of love, or at least the closest possible thing I can think of. While the dictionary definition is “an intense feeling of deep affection”, I don’t feel that is even close to an actual definition. In my personal experience, love is the overwhelming desire to make someones life completely and totally perfect, regardless of what the cost to yourself is. Maybe that’s why love can be so painful: The desire to make someones lifeperfect. Perfection is not, can not, and never can be real. The definition of perfect is absolute and complete. Due to the fact that humans can be neither of those, no life can ever be perfect. So in a way, love is a constant struggle to achieve something that can never be achieved. But all of that is just what the idea of love is. None of those words can explain what real love is. Love has to be felt. It can’t be explained, only expressed. People ask me about long distance relationships and age differences and so many other ‘limits’ that society places on love all the time. Love has no boundaries. You can’t hide it, you can’t avoid it, you can’t run from it. Love is blind. Love does not care about age, race, religion, beliefs, sexual orientation, social classes, nationality, or distance. Love is unpredictable and unstoppable. Love can be the most painful and cruel emotion you will ever feel, but it can also be the most amazing feeling you will ever feel. The only way it can be amazing is by having a painful side. Otherwise what would make it good or bad. If there was only good, then there would be a whole new idea of good and bad. My best advice? Live your life, don’t search for it, and let it find you; because if you search for it, I promise you won’t find it. It has to find you.
